“We are, each of us, tiny individual elements and powers in the universal mosaic. Our lives are programmed somewhat by this Divine scheme and are endowed with purpose and meaning. The message is startlingly simple. Life develops in a pattern, as each different kind of seed must invariably grow into the specific kind of plant it was meant to be.”
Jeanne Dixon, Yesterday Today and Forever

Astrology is a symbolic language of energy. Dianne views her job as translating that language into English, in a way that the client can connect to his/her own life experiences and make constructive use out of. In other words she brings astrological concepts to life.

She welcomes healthy skepticism, as opposed to the rigid closed-minded type, as she was once quite a skeptic herself. Having only seen the sun sign astrology nonsense in newspapers and magazines, she once dismissed the whole subject as worthless. That changed in 1979 when friends urged her to see an astrologer when she was in the midst of a major life transition. His assessment of her life was so accurate and detailed that she had to re-evaluate her whole worldview as a result.

Now very curious she began to study astrology. From the very beginning Dianne was drawn to study astrology’s link to psychology. She discovered she had a natural aptitude for both, particularly the blending of the two fields. She began counseling professionally in the mid-80's and was told by an early client, “You speak like a Jungian analyst.” As a result Dianne began to study Jungian psychology in earnest. Today she often presents lectures and workshops to Jungian groups nationwide. Some major astrologers influencing her work are {alphabetically}: Donna Cunningham, Steven Forrest and Liz Green.

Dianne believes that each person’s soul is on a journey of growth and discovery and that people are responsible for their own choices, She reminds clients that there are no inherently good or bad signs, planets or charts, no pre-ordained specific fate, only a wide range of constructive or counterproductive uses of any energy. Her style offers valuable guidance, yet always respects the power of each client’s freedom, consciousness, imagination, and will to shape their unique life's path

ASTROLOGY’S LINK TO JUNGIAN PSYCHOLOGY
AND PSYCHOLOGY IN GENERAL

Astrology is often included in lists of New Age pursuits. Unfortunately this error is not uncommon. It stems from a lack of accurate exposure to the real, in-depth psychological astrology and to far too much exposure to the popular and misguided conception of magical fortune telling. The latter has virtually nothing to do with the real study.

Psychology, in its deepest sense, has existed for a long time under other names. The earliest of which was, perhaps, astrology. This may be more surprising to psychologists that to anyone else. The word psychology comes from two Greek words – psyche (soul) and logos (wisdom). The study of the soul was the province of astrology long before it was the province of anything else. Jung understood astrology’s role when he said, “Astrology is assured recognition from psychology because it represents the summation of all psychological knowledge of antiquity.”

Jung had the courage to experiment with many tools and to do so without prejudice. He learned astrology and used it in his exploration of the psyche. In a letter to Freud he wrote, “. . . My evenings are taken up very largely with astrology. I make horoscope calculations in order to find a clue to the core of psychological truth.”

An astrological birth chart is both a map and a timetable of the individuation process. It symbolizes the basic lines of a person’s potential development and the cycles of the development. Real psychological astrology has the capacity to greatly assist an individual to bring to consciousness previously unconscious dynamics in their psyche. From this vantage point it is more possible to make constructive and creative choices. Astrology is a powerful tool for growing into wholeness.

Jung also felt that the future of psychology lay in rebuilding lost connections between modern man and the cosmos. If this bridge cannot be built, then there can be no psychology that is truly healing. Modern psychological astrology has an inherent healing power that derives from its capacity to re-attune people to the cosmos – its rhymes and cycles. . and ultimately to their own true nature.
